Juan José Florián Valencia (Mochoman)

My name is Juan José Florián Valencia, I am 34 years of age, born in Antioquia (Colombia). 

I was part of the National Army of Colombia for 13 years; In 2011 I was the victim of an explosive device in the department of Meta, where I suffered a bilateral upper limb amputation, transfemoral left lower limb amputation, loss of vision in the right eye and hearing loss of 40% in the right ear.

After an arduous recovery work, I began my sports training in swimming. From 2012 until 2015, I participated in National Championships, including the IV Paranational games of 2015. I also participated in different international championships in countries such as: United States, Brazil, and Venezuela.

My swimming accomplishments include winning gold in the 200m freestyle in Minneapolis Minnesota United States in 2013, winning won 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze in 2014 São Paulo Brazil at the Caixa Lottery Championship and winning won 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze 

In 2014 at the Open Championship in Barquisimeto Venezuela.

In 2017 I started my journey as a professional Paralympic cyclist. I am classified under the International Cycling Union in Emmen Holland as a C1 cyclist. They classification is based off the physical condition of the athlete. They rank the athletes from C1-C5, C1 being the athlete with the most severe injuries and C5 having minor injuries. According to my physical condition I am C1. 

My achievements as a professional cyclist include: 

- Top 10 in the World Cup in Italy and Belgium.

- Top 15 in the 2019 World Championship Emmen Holland.

- Top 10 in the 2021 Cascais Portugal World Championship.

- National Champion 2017 2018 and 2019.

Currently I am a motivational speaker, high performance athlete and I am in preparation to start the new Olympic cycle that begins in 2022.
